ChloeDeHerrera_Prose
Project:
The name of this project will be *Your Name’s* Photography, or something catchy such as Chlo’s Candids. The main topic of this project is going to be photography. You are to design your own website and to take multiple pictures, you are making your own portfolio. Within your website, you are to pick whatever theme speaks to you. This project is meant to be interactive; your pictures have no limit of creativity. The guidelines for this project are to pick 5-7 different types of photography and create galleries with a description clear of what each of them are. You will research each of these and pick which ones stick out to you the most. You will choose from:
- Portraits
- Fashion
- Sports
- Documentary
- Street
- Wedding/Engagement
- Still-Life
- Black & White
- Fine Art
- Double-Exposure
- Surreal
- Abstract
- Flowers/Nature
- Graduation
- Maternity
Research:
Each of these are examples of what you are expected. You will research to get your own idea and understanding of what each are. You are to have 5-7 photoshoots and you will have 30+ photos. These examples are effective because I researched each type to provide the best example, some mine and some not. They are effective for your understanding of what I am looking for.
You are to be creative with your work. Your website should represent you. Your work should represent you. You need to create a logo with your photography name on it to match your website. The website you will be using to create yours is called Wix, it is completely free, but has purchases if you choose to continue with it. You will put your pictures in different galleries. On the cover page of your website, place your favorites, the ones you are most proud of.

Objective:
The purpose of this project is to be creative and fully interactive. With the tasks the students are asked to do is to act as if you are starting your photography business. You want to present this as a portfolio of how great you are at photography. It is a form of bragging; you want to bring in clientele. This project serves as a new beginning gradually to becoming an expert. You want to be confident in yourself, confident that you can be the best. This project is to find your true potential. The audience the work will communicate with is photographers. It is to build up their confidence. How they receive and interact with this project will solely rely on how much effort and work they put into it. Some of the students will put way more work into it than others, but that is the dedication they will stride towards later when they become a photographer. The students that are taking this course and participating in this project will walk away with more experience and authentic criticism to make them the best in their field.

The projects effectiveness is determined by peer editing and understanding of the whole project itself. The project outline is very precise and very quick moving. You must stay on track or you will be very behind.
Evaluation:
For this photography assignment, as you saw in the outline, you will have 3 weeks to do your absolute best. In week 1 you will be challenged to research and plan your photoshoots. You will also be starting 3 of your shoots, editing and completing all of them. Week 2 is solely photoshoots. You are completing 2-4 more photoshoots depending on how my types you have picked. When editing all your pictures, make sure you have at least 30 pictures for each gallery. In week 3, you are creating your website and you must have 5 total pages cover, gallery, contact, about, and booking. You will post your url to the blog for feedback.
Hi Chloe!
ReplyDeleteI know you said you were confused about this project, but I think you had a better understanding than I did. We were supposed to lead a project, and that is exactly what you did. You also, came up with something that would be useful even if you're not a photographer. I can imagine taking this plan and turning it into an art portfolio. You did a very good job of outlining the steps and how you would tackle them. Apparently, I missed the part where we were supposed to test effectiveness, but you have a great idea for this step. It will also help your students learn to give feedback and critiques to classmates which is a valuable tool for artists.
The only thing I would change is being a little looser with the students. Encouragement is something we all need, especially when we are falling behind. You never know the circumstances or struggle behind the actions. It is good to set standards just remember your compassion.
Nice job with your PROSE proposal. This is definitely a project more from the eyes of a teacher which is very cool. I like how the end of the project is basically setting students up for success in the photography industry. Since this is your project proposal, would you raise the funds for the students to complete the project? I really like photography and this would be a great experience for students to build up a portfolio. Nice job!
ReplyDeleteI like how the whole proposal is very organized and detailed for the students. Not only do the students learn about building a website and photography, but once they finish the project, they leave with something that can be used as a portfolio for future use. While presenting, I liked how you included your own website as an example of what the students can achieve. Something that could be added would be information of any costs or a budget that the students would use throughout the project. Overall I really like the project and proposal!
